Lance has more than two decades of experience in the financial services industry. He established his practice in 1997, which became the Lance Hocutt Financial Group in September 2015.
Lance earned a bachelor’s degree in financial planning from the University of Alabama, and a master’s degree in financial planning from Texas Tech University. He completed his doctoral studies in financial planning at Texas Tech University and completed his Ph.D. in March of 2023. Lance carries the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®) designation which shows Lance's commitment to act in clients' best interests, managing investments, minimizing risk, providing comprehensive financial planning, ensuring compliance with regulations, and educating clients about investment options and strategies. As a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®), Lance has in-depth knowledge of the needs of individuals both before and after retirement, and he engages in retirement planning for a variety of important issues; some of these issues include sources of retirement income, employer-sponsored retirement plans, tax planning, retirement cash flow, asset management, estate planning and more.
Lance is an avid outdoorsman and motorcycle enthusiast. Currently, his bike of choice is the Harley Davidson Road Glide ST.
Dedicated to giving back, Lance has given his time and support to many different community events and organizations, including the DCH Breast Cancer Foundation, DCH Sports Medicine Fun Run, DCH Pastoral Care Fund, Tuscaloosa Mayor’s Cup, Read Bama Read, Tuscaloosa Half Marathon and the Tuscaloosa County School System. He is a benefactor of Wine Women & Shoes for the Shelton State Community College Foundation. He is also an Adopt-A-School partner with Hale County High School through the West Alabama Chamber of Commerce, providing support for the faculty, staff, and students of the school system. He has previously served on the board of directors for the University of Alabama Medalist Club and is currently an at-large board member of Sweet Water Outreach, the Police Athletic League of Tuscaloosa, and Shelton State Community College Foundation
Lance has four adult children: Maggie, Laney, Will, and Jamie.
